1. The fact that a lot of the moderate republicans I know in my life said that Obama was actually their dream candidate. Strangely enough, these are all moderate republican women, who are either economically conservative or people who support the Republican foreign policy (or used to) who say that they are sick of the War stuff and when they listen to Obama they just feel like he's the real deal. Now, with McCain on the Republican side its hard to say how Obama would get them to cross-over...but the more McCain talks about the war...the less these voters will probably vote for them, as it is their main dissatisfaction with the Republican party. Sadly, they all have irrational hatred for all things Clinton, as much as I try to persuade them, that they are not the great Satan that they think they are...yeesh.
2. The age thing. It cut both ways at first. In the beginning, I thought Barack would have difficulty because of the 'experience' issue. In these troubled times, would voters want someone who was versed in the bureaucratic minutiae, or would they want someone who needed a bit of a learning curve there. And really over time, I changed my view on it. Its less about being able to work the system, and more about not working in the current system we have at all, but changing it, because recently it has SUCKED.
3. Hillary Clinton's vote for the War in Iraq. I don't care WHAT Hillary Clinton says, she voted for the War in Iraq, and any other kind of explanation of what that was comes across as crass and belittling to my intelligence. If she didn't know that George Bush was going to use that to go to war, then she is inept (and that's giving her some slack) if she did know, then say it was a bad move. YOU MADE A MISTAKE, just admit it!!!! Its not going to kill you, in fact it would make me 2000% more likely to vote for you. But if she can't change her mind, and has to stubbornly keep pretending that it was all Bush's fault, and blah blah blah. I just can't get behind that.
So that is my beef...
So Obama for President in '08
And Hillary for Senate Majority Leader in '08
Change the culture of the WhiteHouse
and Experience in the Senate to do the hard work!
By her own logic, we need an "LBJ" type to get things done. The reason LBJ was LBJ was because of his many, many years in the Senate. Hillary should fill that role and help our next President get the job done.
