Al Gore to Endorse Barack Obama?

Now isn't this interesting?

A well-placed spouse of a Clinton campaign insider just told me that a rumor is spreading like wild fire in Hillaryland that Al Gore is going to endorse Barack Obama.

My source emphasizes that this is rumor and may just be paranoia and hyperventilation of the campaign, but it's important to know that this rumor is out there. Another source of mine inside Obamaland has told me that they have been working very hard to secure Gore's public support and trying numerous avenues to "encourage" him.

I tend to think that Gore won't endorse, but will stay above the fray as the Nobel Peace Prize winner and climate change champion that he is. What do you think?  Will Gore endorse, and if he does, will it help Barack Obama?

If the choices are Clinton and Obama (Chris Guy - 2/7/2008 2:24:01 PM)
of course he's going to choose Obama.

Then of course the media, as well as Clinton supporters, will bring up Howard Dean 4 years ago....which will be amusing because Dean was defeated for the nomination by John Kerry...ALSO supporting Obama.

Need / have Obama campaign materials? (fn - 2/7/2008 2:35:32 PM)
Need Obama campaign materials (posters, signs, etc.) for upcoming primary?

Have Obama campaign materials from an already completed primary?

Go to http://www.ObamaCycle.com/ and you can post need/have messages. It's free.

The Obama campaign website is bogged down with traffic (maybe that cool $7 mil we just raised in the past couple of days has something to do with it). Reusing campaign stuff will also make a $1 of Obama money go twice as far! Hopefully this will help and it will make sure there is less waste.

Come on, Al (DanG - 2/7/2008 3:04:27 PM)
You know that neither Hillary Clinton nor John McCain will lend you their ear.  Hillary is going to do it her way; she'll be the "decider" in her own right.  And McCain has flip-flopped on the environment so often I can't tell exactly what he stands for.

Barack Obama is a team player.  He'll listen to everybody, especially a former VP and Nobel Prize winner that endorsed him in the primary!

"Maybe" and "Yes" (True Blue - 2/7/2008 3:05:54 PM)
Maybe he will, and if he did, yes it would help.

Not until the Convention (The Grey Havens - 2/7/2008 3:06:06 PM)
If this thing goes all the way to Denver, who else has the clout to broker a deal between the two camps?

Usually, you'd go to a past president, but obviously that won't work.  Nobody else can operate at that level.

You think Howard Dean could pull it off?!  No F*in' way!

Please God! (Doug in Mount Vernon - 2/7/2008 6:00:16 PM)
Say it is so!  I love Al Gore.  Ever since I saw him speak about the privacy & spying concerns in DC on MLK Day at Consitution Hall a few years back, I have been a rabid Gore fan.

I signed the petition asking him to endorse Barack.  Please Al!  PLEASE!!!

Gore Says He Hopes Clinton Wins - Not Endorsing Though

This is an interesting tidbit.

CNN aired the Gore clip on super Tuesday. After he voted, he was asked about endorsing, he stated "I'm trying to stay out of it but I hope "she" wins". Further, he stated that "she " is the only candidate who will implement a renewable energy/environmental plan. He will put aside his differences to help the environment and he can help HRC.

Did anyone see the clip on CNN of Al Gore voting on super Tuesday? Said he hoped "she" would win as she is the only one who will implement a green energy plan. Further he said he would put his differences (with Clintons) aside for the sake of the environment and that he would help HRC.
