This is about as much of a dead heat as you can get:

The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Thursday shows a tie in the race for the Democratic Presidential Nomination. Senators Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama are each supported by 44% of Likely Democratic Primary Voters...

Meanwhile, Rasmussen Markets gives Obama a 57.2% chance of winning the nomination, compared to 42.8% for Clinton.

Finally, yet another poll finds the same results we've been seeing for a while now: "Looking to the General Election, daily tracking results show that McCain leads Clinton 46% to 44% while Obama leads McCain 46% to 43%."

At this point... (PsiFighter37 - 2/7/2008 1:19:12 PM)
...I wouldn't put much stock in national polling. It was useful to get an idea where Super Tuesday would end up, but the contests hereon out will be fought at the state level.

FWIW, you guys got a well-deserved tip of the hat at the Obama website.

They haven't even begun to go through Obama's closet (thegools - 2/7/2008 7:26:17 PM)
openly.  Unlike Hillary, whose dirty laudry is long since out in the open, Obama has been on easy street so far.

Hillary will not be hit by much that is new if she gets the nod.  All of her skeletons are old news.  perhaps, it is one of her strengths.  If Obama gets the nod, it will be a long time from now until November.  We will hear about every single "bad" thing he has done, painted in the worst possible light.

Certainly he will be called Barack HUSSEIN Obama the moment he gets the nomination.  My guess is that Saddam HUSSEIN, Al Quieda, Terrorism, and Obama's Muslim roots will be mentioned often in the same sentence with Obama's full name.

Yes it is a long way to November... all the more reason to have a brokered convention so as to cheat the GOP of a single target at which to throw their mud.

I would also point out (aznew - 2/7/2008 8:28:37 PM)
that the Clinton campaign is somewhat limited in how aggressive they can be in attacking Obama, because they don't want to alienate Democrats. Still, judging by some of the reactions I've seen by Obama supporters, you'd think he'd been Swift Boated.

Not even close.

The whining won't work in the general election. The republicans do not care whether we think they are playing dirty or fair.
