It appears that those of us who voted for Tim Kaine to keep a good thing going won't be disappointed. Tim Kaine's first appointee is Warner Chief of Staff Bill Leighty, and according to an editorial by Barney Day, having him back for 4 more years is the next best thing to a second Mark Warner term.
"When Mark Warner named Leighty to the position, he signaled that his administration would be run with efficiency and integrity," the T-D said. "Virginia's reputation as the best-managed state is due in large part to Leighty's skills - and to his support from the governor. Leighty's reappointment ensures a welcome continuity."
Meanwhile, Tim Kaine is on his roadshow talking up transportation in every nook and cranny of the Commonwealth. This says to me that transportation will require a huge investment in the next 4 years. Tim Kaine is going to need to get real people to buy in heart and soul for some tough long-term solutions. The Daily Press says "Show us the money." I say, Kaine has shown us guts, heart and brains. We're in good hands. I shudder to think where we'd be right now under a "Governor Elect" Kilgore. brrr... *shudder*
Bob Gibson at the Daily Progress has a great rundown of the new makeup of the house of delegates. It's sure to make Democrats smile.
