Jim Webb and Harold Ford just spoke and we're waiting on Joe Manchin (WV) now. The first balloting will begin in 25-30 minutes. The balloting will take approximately 2 hours- so we should know the winner by 1:30 or 2. Remember- Washington and Lee has predicted the correct nominee in all but one contest since 1948!
In the actual balloting:
Clinton won with 2,117 delegates--92 more than needed to secure the nomination. She received the winning margin when her home state, New York, voted last and gave her all of its 241 delegates. Illinois Sen. Barack Obama received 1,642 delegates, and former Sen. John Edwards of North Carolina got 288.
However, the article notes:
Hillary Clinton's victory was not a reflection of her popularity with the students--Obama received more cheers during the roll call of states--but rather the result of intensive research. The students studied polls, read blogs and conducted interviews in each state with politics professors, party leaders and journalists.
So, I'm not sure what this tells us except that Hillary is a slight favorite right now.
