Raising Kaine and DEMPAC would like to announce a new project - VaDemWiki (http://www.vademwiki.org).
The purpose of VaDemWiki is to provide a certalized knowledge-base for Democratic and Progressive Virgina politics. Need to know when Jim Webb was born? Need to find out the boundaries of the 15th VA Senate district? Want to let others know what you know? Join us!
VaDemWiki is a collaborative effort. Since we're just now launching it, you may wonder "where's all the content?" If you have to ask, contribute! The wiki only works if we all chip in.
Now, because of the sensitive nature of this wiki (no trolls, please), editing will be closed to approved editors. The good news? We're very open to new editors! In fact, we need good people like you to become editors. Just register for an account on the site and send us an email (let us know who you are). We'll approve your account, and you can then edit away! Again, this is not to control content, but just to keep out trolls - so we'll almost certainly approve you if you create an account.
If you're concerned about helping because you've never edited a wiki page beofre, don't fret - it's easy. All you have to do is click the "edit" above a page and starting typing away. If you want to learn about formatting, just read WikiPedia's tutorial on how to edit. And don't worry, if you have any questions, we're here to help! Just send us an email.
We hope you'll consider contributing to VaDemWiki. Together, we can transform Virginia politics by creating an open, transparent knowledge-base. But we can only do it with your help!
I'm writing a diary for my new job (Director of Development over at DYSC) that'll be up later but includes the following
runforoffice.org is a one of a kind informational resource that everyone should be aware of. Runforoffice.org allows anyone (including you) to type in your age and zip code and instantaneously see what office you are eligible to run for (with a link to the source in case you want to double check). Then on the same page there are links to everything one would need to run for office including filing requirements, free websites for Democratic candidates at any level (no, really, free professional websites) and so on.
We're still updating the site (ex: soil and water conservation aren't up yet) but wanted to let you guys know about the resource in case you do entries for the local offices...and so that you all can help me out and let me know if we're missing anything else :o)
