After nearly blowing a gasket the other day from the frustration of the Clinton sock puppetry I decided to have some fun with it.

So, I want you to meet my new friend. You may see him pop up from time to time when the discussion gets absurd.

So what's socky saying today? (The Grey Havens - 1/15/2008 8:54:58 AM)
Looks like this has the makings of a regular feature.

If Obama supporters have to sink to this... (Dianne - 1/15/2008 9:55:03 AM)
then I think they will eventually hurt their own candidate by their arrogance, ignorance, pettiness, and mean-spiritedness.

Could someone reference an RK attack diary on Obama for me?  I haven't written one.  Has anyone gone after him fairly?  This attack on Senator Clinton is becoming a bit unbalanced and Obama supporters are looking more and more childish.

I recently wrote a diary congratulating Senator Clinton on her performance on Meet The Press.  It was moved to the recommended section but not Front Paged.  However, Obama has been front paged repeatedly.

If RK is to be considered a fair place to talk about the candidates and other subjects, can we make it a bit fairer?

Relax.... (sndeak - 1/15/2008 10:08:15 AM)
Just having some fun. I can very easily turn that entire first sentence around and pull up comments from previous diaries to back it up.

There is no denying the Clinton brigade attacks enmasse when an Obama post comes up.

For someone undecided like myself (tx2vadem - 1/15/2008 11:20:10 PM)
These type of things do not help your candidate, in my opinion.  If they are funny to you that's great, but they do not add anything to the discussion.

As to the Senator Clinton brigade, there is undoubtedly a huge slant towards Senator Obama here.  Some of his supporters here are unable to move past irrational arguments, unsupported assertions, and general enmity towards Senator Clinton.  Those types of comment require a response from those of us who like Senator Clinton despite her faults, which I do.  There are some supporters of Senator Obama who post quite eloquent, rational, and substantive statements of support for him.  And I sometimes feel the need to respond to those as well just to enjoy a good argument.  Finally, some people view Senator Obama as a messianic figure, and I sometimes can't help but respond to those.

The "Clinton brigade", whoever constitutes that, at least adds some balance to the discussion.  And don't tell me that you don't enjoy that.  Because what fun is preaching to the choir?  What fun is listening to an echo of platitudes?  =)

May I offer a suggestion .... (Dianne - 1/16/2008 9:47:35 AM)
If you want to make your candidate look strong, don't take cheap, personal attacks on other candidates, as you and others are doing here.  There's substance to the theory that when you constantly put a candidate down unjustly (which is demonstrated ad nauseum here), people will support the candidate who is being attacked.  At the moment, I can't get past your attacks on Senator Clinton to take a good look at Senator Obama.  Last night's debate fixed that.

What? (sndeak - 1/16/2008 1:35:53 PM)
What are you talking about? You believe that stating that Clinton is arrogant is a cheap shot? Please. She did it again last night.

She refused again to say whether Edwards or Obama are quailifed or would be a good president. Both of them have been complimentary but she just absolutely refuses to budge. Not to mention the setup of the co-sponsoring legislation sham last night.

I believe I have posted comments here maybe 5 times about the presidential candidates.

I think some are being a little hypersensative about the sock puppet. There are a few who not get the double-edged humor of me defending my candidate (a common sock puppet tactic as well)

Perhaps...... (Flipper - 1/15/2008 10:07:08 AM)
you should have your friends at the Nevada State Education Association file a lawsuit requesting Lowell move your post to the front page.  And maybe you could have Bill Clinton file a friend of the court brief on your behalf.

Again, I'm hoping that Obama supporters are not all like what you and sndeak have (Dianne - 1/15/2008 10:14:26 AM)
you and sndeak have demonstrated here on Raising Kaine.  Your comment is like your name, flip.

In previous posts I've said I'd gladly support Obama if he is the candidate as he represents what I believe in.  May I assume that you would support Senator Clinton if she is the Democratic Presidential nominee?

I've said it many times (sndeak - 1/15/2008 10:29:34 AM)
I will support the Democratic nominee. Always have, always will.

Daine, My recent Dairies.... (Flipper - 1/15/2008 10:42:17 AM)
regarding the Nevada lawsuit were fair.  I poined out, and you agreed, that the lawsuit in Nevada designed to disenfranchise thousands of working class voters was filed by supporters of Hillary Clinton and not the Clinton camapign itself.  What is unfair about that?

And your diary regarding Hillary Clinton's apperance on Meet the Press was a great post - you did a great job of advocating for your candidate.  And it received 47 comments!!  47!!  It was very successful, was thought provoking and a large number of RK readers obviously agree based on the number of comments.  So really, what do you have to complain about?  If you want to read nothing but diaries supporting Hillary Clinton, I suggest you spend more time reading Not Larry Sabato.

It's Lowell's blog and Lowell can do as he sees fit - but in fairness to Lowell, he does a great job of being fair and balanced.  God knows he and I have tangled from time to time over issues and candidates but he is always fair and he makes me think about things I might not otherwise think about.

I Am Passionate About Obama (Lee Diamond - 1/15/2008 4:12:42 PM)
My passion for Obama is about Obama.  I have gone after the Clintons in response to their negative attacks on Barack.  I think they have made bad choices.  I hope that will change.

There is no question that the three remaining major candidates are all Democrats.  Therefore, we should really stop this silly, "Are you going to support the nominee?" routine.  We are focused right now on choosing the strongest nominee for the general election.

I would be only too pleased to represent Barack at a grassroots forum discussing the different candidates.  I would be completely comfortable talking only about Barack Obama and why he is the best person to be leading the US and the Democratic Party.
