Obama's Other Life

This is quite the article about Barack Obama's personal, diplomatic efforts this past week (while running for president!) to help calm the unrest in Kenya.
On January 3, the day of the caucuses, he had a conversation with Bishop Desmond Tutu, who had flown to Nairobi to see if he could begin negotiations with the factions. In the days since his Iowa victory, Obama has had near-daily conversations with the U.S. Ambassador in Kenya or with opposition leader Raula Odinga. As of late this afternoon, before his rally in Rochester, N.H., Obama was trying to reach Kenyan President Kibachi.
Regardless of who you're supporting, this kind of quiet, behind the scenes work is humble leadership.

he has as much experience now as the teenage kid who made a crank call to Bush at the white house pretending to be the Prime Minister of Finland.
I wonder if Mr. Bush (Teddy - 1/9/2008 5:04:20 PM)
can find Kenya on the map?
I think it would go something like this ... (Ron1 - 1/9/2008 11:38:39 PM)
Advisor: Mr. President, we have a situation developing in Kenya.
Bush: Huh? Can I, what?
