Sen. Webb has spoken out forcefully about the cost of "mass incarceration in the United States." Absurdly low felony thresholds ($200?!?) are part of the problem here; unfortunately, legislators like Dave Albo have not been part of the solution. We'll see what happens in 2008, whether -- as NLS says -- "Dave Albo is more about his own personal wealth than any sort of justice or fairness."
So, do we have anyone to run against him in 2009 yet? Given that he would have lost this time but NO ONE RAN AGAINST HIM, seems like it's time to start recruiting NOW. Hell, Deeds is already in for 2009. Who's going to step up and take Albo's place????
When 19% of the people in the southern precincts cast a write-in vote, it gets people's attention.
Remember that the abuser fee tidal wave unfortunately hit on right before 7/1/07 when the law became effective and AFTER all of the candidate filing deadlines had run.
Albo continuing to defend his abuser fee plan in the papers, in the legislature, and in all of his mail to his constituents repeatedly reminds them of his role in that mess and his refusal to acknowledge he was wrong.
People now know what Albo is about.
There will be an opponent in 2009.
