4/4/07: The House of Delegates votes, in its "veto session," to override Gov. Kaine's three death penalty vetoes. The House upholds Gov. Kaine's veto of a telecommunications bill sponsored by Del. Terry Kilgore, and passes the transportation bill (with Gov. Kaine's amendments) 85-15.
4/12/07: In a strong sign that he will retire from the U.S. Senate, John Warner raises only $500 in the first quarter of 2007.
4/16/07: Shootings at Virginia Tech result in 33 dead (including the murderer), many more wounded.
4/17/07: Gov. Kaine returns from Japan and speaks at an emotional convocation one day after the Virginia Tech shootings. Other speakers at the ceremony include President Bush, Virginia Tech President Charles Steger, and Professor Nikki Giovanni (who repeats the phrases "We are Virginia Tech" and "We will prevail!").
4/25/07: The Washington Post reports that Gov. Kaine "is considering an executive order to make sure that gun sellers have more information about the mental health of potential buyers, a move that would have kept Seung Hui Cho from purchasing the handguns he used to kill 32 people at Virginia Tech last week."
