However, there is some interesting rumor mongering going on about Gov. Tim Kaine. Gov. Kaine is doing 10 campaign appearances for Obama against this weekend in Iowa and South Carolina according to Tim Craig. It also mentions that Kaine is one of Obama's "National Co-Chairman."
Kaine-Obama '08? The rumor mill is churning..... Note that Wikipedia is already mentioning it.
It was also discussed in this article. In another article, Gov. Kaine "wouldn't say whether he'd consider [vice-president]."
Gov. Bill Bolling running as an incumbent into redistricting? Where would that leave George Allen and Bob McDonnell?
If it looks like is going to Obama win the nomination, would the GOP to give Kaine some successes this legislative session so he can move on up and they have a better shot during redistricting or would they be more concerned with putting Virginia in play in '08?
In all seriousness, Kaine should not accept such an opportunity. At the FCCC debate (moderated by Tim Russert), Kaine promised to serve his four years, and he knows all too well what will happen if the current Lt. Gov. were to become Governor. Besides, Kaine has had a tough two years with the GA, so to skip off and campaign fulltime in mid '08 would doom our Dem momentum for the '09 GA and the '09 general election.
Many of us worked hard for Tim Kaine to become our Governor, and he needs to stay until his term is finished. I hope he will not be consumed by the '08 election this coming January and February because there are too many local and state-wide issues to worry about. Not to mention we now have control of the state senate...
It's not like Kaine has anywhere to go after this right now. I bet he's at least angling for a cabinet position.
Lowell is right - Obama needs someone with foreign policy experience and General Clark would be a great pick.
