http://thehill.com/campaign-20... I know LuAnn and the honor is richly deserved.
Here's what the paper says about her political life:
For years McNabb has been involved in the local Democratic Party, running a successful campaign for Sully School Board member Kathy Smith before she was tapped to serve as legislative aide to Del. Chuck Caputo (D-Chantilly).Before her son Patrick was diagnosed with ulcerative colitis earlier this year, McNabb was planning to run against Sen. Ken Cuccinelli (R-Centreville).
She sat out of a race to care for Patrick, but hosted fund-raisers and campaigned for other candidates. She also became a top fundraiser for the Crohn's & Colitis Foundation's local chapter, and cared for the Samaha family [whose daughter was tragically lost at Virginia Tech].
Joseph Samaha said his family and McNabb's family have dealt with the tragedy of his daughter's death together. He added that McNabb has worked alongside him advocating changes to gun and mental health laws.
LuAnn is one terrific person, and I hope she stays active in politics -- because with people lke her the good guys will win.
