Fortunately, there's a great story, one that sounds intriguingly familiar to the "Draft Webb" crowd, going on in the Bluegrass State with Lt. Col. Andrew Horne (Ret.) In order to Ditch Mitch, we are going to need a real, clear choice, and there is not much greater contrast than Andrew Horne and Mitch McConnell.
As Horne said in his announcement: "Mitch McConnell carried Bush water on Iraq, I carried a rifle in Iraq." And after carrying that rifle in Iraq, Horne is certainly not afraid of Mitch McConnell, that's for damn sure. Anyway, why would he be afraid of someone who's polling at 44% approve/47% disapprove? Heck, that's worse than George Allen this time two years ago.
Most importantly, Andrew Horne is in to win. He's ready to work his butt off; in fact, he's already started doing just that. In addition, I hear that he is putting together a top tier, nationally respected team campaign that will be announced in the coming weeks. Which means that what Andrew Horne needs is the same thing Jim Webb got in 2006 -- grassroots support. Arguably, Andrew Horne will be one of the top internet candidates of 2008. If he can draw in national support like Jim Webb, he can go toe-to-toe with Mitch McConnell.
Anyway, please consider donating to Andrew Horne. We know how it's done here in Virginia, now let's help out our neighbors in Kentucky! :)
