We all know that Gov. Kaine is very anti-death penalty, and it would be nice if he'd sway our leaders in Richmond to consider banning our death penalty law too. One of the reasons I supported Kaine was I knew that he was strongly against the death penalty. He is against it based on religious grounds (which I respect). I'm against it on practical and moral grounds. Now is the time!
Good Day For New Jersey (Lee Diamond - 12/18/2007 7:23:47 PM)
Being from New Jersey, I am proud to see state murder banned there. I think it is going to take a lot of work, however, to get a ban through our legislature. While I respect my friend's efforts in this area, my preference is to see the Democrats focus on less controversial ways they can improve our qualitiy of life in Virginia. If they build a strong record, we will stand to make even more gains in the House of Delegates in 2009. Then, we'll be in excellent position to win a fair reapportionment deal after the 2010 census. A majority in both houses of the legislature should flow from that. Then, we should look for the passage of increasingly progressive legislation.
