Can the GOP Take Back Wittman's HoD Seat?

henry potterRight-wing blogger Virginia Virtucon reported recently that Bay Banks Inc. President Austin Roberts may be the guy the Republicans put up to try and keep the now vacant 99th District seat in the House of Delegates in GOP hands. You see, this is what Repubicans do when they have no other options. They just recruit the richest guy they can find and hope that they can buy the seat (and, no, it doesn't work). It didn't work for Dick DeVos,  Pete Ricketts, or C. Montgomery Burns.

Bay Banks is a big name in the Northern Neck. Unfortunately their stock hasn't done anything in recent years, while their competitors have been doing extremely well. Now the bank will come under even more scrutiny than ever before since Mr. Roberts has decided to enter the world of politics. State Senator-Elect Richard Stuart couldn't beat Albert Pollard in the Northern Neck. Congressman-Elect Rob Wittman had to wait until Pollard retired to take the seat. I guess it's no wonder they couldn't get a more viable candidate to take on this suicide mission.

DEMS missed a great opportunity (Peninsula Pete - 12/14/2007 7:03:46 AM)
The DEMS missed a great opportunity in pegging Wittman for breaking the "NO TAX PLEDGE" that he made a solemn oath to uphold:

I pledge to the taxpayers of Virginia and to all the people of this state, that I will oppose and vote against any and all efforts to increase taxes.

He voted not only for HB3202 but he wrote editorials in the Westmoreland newspaper supporting it.

Forgit was a nice guy but had incompetent campaign advisors.  He thought that the momentum from the General Assembly races would carry him through the 1st district.  He was wrong.

It was the Independent in the race who only got 1% of the vote that pointed out the broken NO TAX PLEDGE and that was a week before the election.

Forgit would be a great congressman but he's got to get rid of the bad political folks who didn't do their jobs in beating Wittman.  Wittman is weak and can be removed next year.

Why would the GOP back Austin Powers? (Kindler - 12/14/2007 3:23:44 PM)
Yeeahh, baby!

Don't worry (Chris Guy - 12/14/2007 4:01:40 PM)
If they do that we'll just travel back in time to the 60's and steal his mojo.
