What a wild ride it's been! I personally only got involved in August but I have to admit that Raising Kaine has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my not-so young life.
Now that the election is over, Raising Kaine is at a crossroads. Where do we go from here?
A frequent reader and member of this community, Jenny, wrote the following as a comment in a recent blog post:
Lowell, Josh and Co, I was just thinking- You guys run a very effective blog, and this obviously was a godsend to the Kaine Campaign in its victory on Tues. Why not continue the success of this blog to the greater good of the mid-term elections next year?
This blog would definately help the Dem candidates as it did for Tim Kaine. Maybe, with a new focus and name change to RaisingDemocrats? Please consider this. Give this some thought. Don?t fold your tent, please. I?m sure others here would generously contribute to keep this blog going strong.
Rest assured that we aren't going anywhere. The Raising Kaine crew is energized, activated and expanding. We are going to expand our presence for the '06, '07, and '08 election cycles, and we want your help!
Here's what you can do:
1. Give us some input. Please share your ideas for the future of Raising Kaine. We have our own, but we'd love to hear from you.
2. Get Involved. Raising Kaine is not some insular little group. We want as many Fighting Virginia Democrats as possible to participate. I personally got involved just by posting a lot of comments. Get active on the blog, and if you have story ideas, tips, or if you want to submit a blog post, send it to poldir@raisingkaine.com for consideration.
3. Contribute. In addition to being a leading progressive blog, Raising Kaine is also a PAC. During this election season, we produced thousands of flyers, and published dozens of ads supporting Tim Kaine for Governor. With more funding we could have done even more, and in the next few years, with your help, we will do MUCH more.
So, make a contribution. Share your ideas, stories, and tips. Most of all, tell us where you think we should go from here.
2005 was a great year. 2006, 2007, and 2008 promise to be even better.
Thank you for all YOU do.
Josh, Raising Kaine
