Mike Huckabee, as a senate candidate in 1992, stated in responses to 229 questions posed by the AP to him, advocated isolating AIDS patients from the general public and opposed increased  funding by the federal government in the search for a cure.

Huchabee also complained that AIDS research received an unfair share of federal dollars when compared to other iseases such as cancer, diabetes and heart disease. When Huckabee wrote his answers in 1992, it was common knowledge that AIDS could not be spread by casual contact but he, nonetheless, was advocating isolation for all AIDS patients.  In late 1991, the CDC said there were 195,718 AIDS patients in the country and that 126,159 people had died from the syndrome.

In addition to a quarantine, Huckabee also suggested that in lieu of federal funding, Hollywood celebrities such as Elizabeth Taylor and Madonna fund AIDS research from their own pockets.

What a nice guy - you gotta love a "Good" Christian with a conscience.
