Republicans clearly jumped the gun last night as they all but proclaimed victory in the Virginia Attorney General Race. Fighting Democrat Creigh Deeds will see that every vote is counted.
The race is too close to call. With over 1.9 Million votes counted in 99percent of the precincts, Republican candidate Bob McDonnell is showing 50.01% of the vote. Democrat Creigh Deeds is lagging by less than 1500 votes at 49.91%. Write ins are .08%.
From the Washington Post:
"It's not over," Deeds said. "When every vote's counted, I'm going to be the next attorney general of Virginia."
Because the count is within one half percent, there will be a state-funded recount. Creigh Deeds has appointed a team to prepare for it. The recount cannot be called until after vote results are made official on November 28. Meanwhile, Creigh is heading home to Bath county to spend time with his family and take care of his horses.
We won't know anything until December. Keep fighting Creigh, we're behind you!
