"Changing the rules in the middle of the game is a loser's mentality" - Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger
Last night, CBS laid the smack down on the California Dirty Tricks Campaign. An effort launched by GOP operatives with close ties to Rudy Giuliani, Dirty Tricks is an effort "to place on the June 2008 California primary ballot an initiative that would change the way electoral college votes are allocated from the traditional "winner take all," to a proportional system that allocates electoral college votes by congressional district".
The desperate campaign has missed the key petition signature deadline, and has resorted to blatantly misleading voters in their zeal to get on the ballot.
Rudy should call for this effort to be condemned and discontinued, but he won't, because he'll do anything to become president. As, Rick Jacobs, chair and founder of the Courage Campaign said:
We all dislike the Electoral College, but this is just a simple dirty trick. If it were equitable, the Republicans would have joined with Democrats to sponsor such initiatives and legislative changes in all of the big states across the country. Even Governor Schwarzenegger, still officially a Republican, says "changing the rules in the middle of the game" is a "loser's mentality." And that's just what we see. If you can't beat 'em at the polls, change the rules, change the way you count votes, do anything but face reality.
Slimeball Bonus: Both Rudy's campaign and California Dirty Tricks campaign are backed by billionaire slime ball, Paul Singer. This piece of work made his riches off the famous "pump and dump" penny stock scam, and then went on to rob millions of dollars from the starving widows and orphans of Peru with his vulture funds. Kerik, Nathan, Poderst, and Simon, you know a man by the company he keeps.
