For whatever this is worth, here's a graph of blog visits (source: Sitemeter) for November 2007. I've included a mix of national and state political blogs, including two Virginia Democratic blogs with Sitemeter information available on their sites. Something that jumps out here is how well the Virginia blogs are doing compared to other state blogs, and even to some national blogs (e.g., NLS and RK had more visits than Swing State Project in November, and were within range of OpenLeft). One caveat here: November was an election month in Virginia, so traffic was higher than in other months. Still, traffic to NLS and RK have been growing steadily, with a combined 265,411 visits in November. Traffic to national blogs appears to have leveled off or even fallen in some cases (e.g., MyDD feel from over 900,000 visits in April to 586,000 visits in November). At the risk of going too far out on a limb, it appears that state blogs may be where the action is these days.
P.S. Daily Kos received 12,900,157 visits in November, down from 16,822,582 visits in August.
Here's hoping this trend continues next year, as we try to turn Virginia blue(r). Thanks to Lowell and all the other writers and explorers here that make RK such a great blog community.
When a national event occurs that'll have big political repercussions, I come here FIRST. I'll read Lowell's and the rest of the gangs analysis/opinion and THEN I go Daily Kos for follow-up.
Still, I wonder if this is another indication that we're purple trending blue.
We'll see.
