Mitt Romney: No Muslims in MY Cabinet!

Mitt Romney says that if he is elected president, there will be no Muslims in his cabinet. With that in mind, here are a few possible cabinet members for a Mitt Romney administration:
Secretary of Transportation: Ann Coulter (for her comment that Islam is a "car burning cult")
Secretary of Anti-Muslim Affairs: Virgil Goode
Secretary of Dhimmitude: Michelle Malkin
Secretary of Tourism (or Food and DRUG Administration): Rush Limbaugh
Secretary of Interfaith Relations: "Doctor" Laura Schlessinger
Secretary of "Robbers and Brigands": Pat Robertson
Secretary of "Islamic Extremism": Glenn Beck
Obviously, there are still a few cabinet posts to fill. Any suggestions?

Perfect! :)
To be fair, (DanG - 11/27/2007 8:12:34 PM)
Romney is denying that he ever said it.
Yeah, Romney also denies (Lowell - 11/27/2007 8:20:05 PM)
being pro-choice, pro-gay rights, running to the left of Ted Kennedy, etc. I don't believe a word he says.
Disgraceful (tx2vadem - 11/27/2007 8:18:18 PM)
I think your hyperbole here is not useful. What would be more instructive is underlining how hypocritical that is of Mitt Romney. For someone who is a member of a minority faith who asks Americans to look past that quality about him to turn around and say he would exclude individuals based on faith just boggles the mind. It truly scrapes the bottom of the barrel. Mitt Romney of any of the Republicans should be able to sympathize best with creed based discrimination. You would think he would know better. But rather than learn from the sins of those who oppressed the LDS Church, he chooses instead to adopt their practices. That's just sad.
Even if that is what the base of the Republican Party wants to hear, how can he look himself in the mirror? How then can he challenge with any moral authority discrimination against the LDS Church?
It's called "satire" (Lowell - 11/27/2007 8:21:44 PM)
What's "disgraceful" or "hyperbole" about it? You lost me here.
Answer (tx2vadem - 11/27/2007 8:34:07 PM)
Disgraceful was referring to Romney's response the main subject of my post.
Hyperbole is your suggestion of cabinet appointees he might make. I guess if it was meant to be satire, then I don't understand why you started with a serious critique of Romney's character. And if it is satire, what about it is satirical?
Definition of satire (Lowell - 11/27/2007 10:34:49 PM)
1. the use of irony, sarcasm, ridicule, or the like, in exposing, denouncing, or deriding vice, folly, etc.
2. a literary composition, in verse or prose, in which human folly and vice are held up to scorn, derision, or ridicule.
3. a literary genre comprising such compositions.

Anna Marie Cox pointed out that Romney's first bit of reasoning, that Muslims don't deserve representation because they are such a small part of the US population, would also hold true for Mormons. http://www.time-blog.com/swamp...
Cox said:
Just fyi: Percentage of American population that is Muslim, as of 2001: .6 (an increase of 106% since 1990). Percentage that is Mormon: 1.4 (an increase of 12% since 1990). But that's not even the point, is it?
I was thinking Grover Norquist for ATF, since he courts the alcohol, tobacco and firearms industries so much.
And maybe Jim Gilmore to head a Department of the Inferior.
Perhaps... (legacyofmarshall - 11/28/2007 7:06:33 PM)
George Allen as ambassador to India.
I'd like to note that George Bush has appointed a Muslim as Ambassador to the United Nations, the highest diplomatic post after Sectretary of State, and to the best of my memory no Republican made a huge fuss that the USA's representative to the WORLD is a Muslim - not even born in the United States. Who did Romney think he was cozying up to by whole-heartedly approving of religious discrimination in job hiring practices?
