An Interesting Take From George Will

From Newsweek

As the Democrats' nominee, Obama's largest vulnerability would be his inexperience regarding foreign and military affairs. He could pick a former four-star Army general with diplomatic experience brokering peace in the Balkans-Wesley Clark. Or if Obama worried that such a choice might indicate insecurity, he could pick the governor of a Red-actually, an increasingly purple-state and turn it Blue: Tim Kaine of Virginia (13 electoral votes), which has not voted Democratic since 1964.

...but I am guessing that Obama figures to get Ohio, which flips the 2004 results, so my guess if he goes South for a VP nominee he goes to Edwards.

...yeah, I know, would Edwards want to run for Vp again.  maybe not, but if Ohio does flip, then Obama has the potential for a bigger win and needs to be able to roll up on all the edges of red-state USA, and not just in Virginia.

Winning Ohio (Info_Tech_Guy - 11/30/2007 8:34:19 AM)
"Flipping Ohio" to Obama would be much more certain if Obama would revisit the offshore outsourcing jobs loss issue.

The insensitivity and tactlessness in the "Hillary Clinton (D-Punjab)" internal memo should not obscure the fact that Hillary is in tight with the offshore outsourcing lobby.

While Ohio governor Ted Strickland has endorsed Hillary, Obama, like Ohio's new senator Sherrod Brown, could win BIG in Ohio (primary and general election) on the job loss issue. Free trade has devastated Ohio.

Whoever is advising the Obama campaign needs to wake up an smell the coffee on the trade/economy/jobs issues.

Trying to keep the corporate money coming in and waffling on labor issues like offshore outsourcing does not inspire the sort of popular support that many noted in Jim Webb's Virginia campaigns last year.
