Leadership Changes in the Virginia Young Democrats

There have been some leadership changes recently at the Virginia Young Democrats. The new President is Jennifer Bissett of Alexandria, also Del. Mark Sickles' (D-43rd) Legislative Assistant. Bissett, who moves up from Executive Vice President of the Young Dems, graduated from JMU and worked on the Kaine for Governor campaign in 2005.
Replacing Bissett as Executive Vice President is Raising Kaine's own James Martin of Arlington. James, a student at Mary Washington who was heavily involved in the Webb for Senate campaign last year, also serves as Vice President of Membership.
The Virginia Young Democrats represents thousands of High School, College, and Young Professional Democrats from all corners of the Commonwealth. This year, YD's were very active in volunteering for Chap Petersen, Janet Oleszek, George Barker, John Miller, Albert Pollard, Mike Breiner, and many other Democratic candidates. In several of these rases, given how close the results were, it's quite possible that YD involvement made the difference -- and in the fact that we now have a Democratic-controlled State Senate. Congratulations to the YD's, and specifically to Jennifer Bissett and James Martin on their promotions in the organization.

As a former Florida YD, I'm glad the Young Democrats continue the tradition of being valuable assets to campaigns in Virginia as they are nationwide.
Keep up the good work!
