This is not correct. (science - 11/10/2007 7:16:55 PM)
At
http://hrblogs.typep...
they give the first ballot
Jost 110.95, Davis 85.85, Bowditch 82.77
with WIttman and Black next
jost is another stall.. (lgb30856 - 11/10/2007 7:18:51 PM)
thank you.
Correction (BP - 11/10/2007 7:20:09 PM)
I think the proper name for that club you reference is the "Club for Greed." Or, if it's not, it should be.
I was really hoping Black would get it. (Johnny Longtorso - 11/10/2007 7:24:50 PM)
He's about the only candidate that could lose this election without Democrats even trying to win it.
Heh, heh, heh! (True Blue - 11/10/2007 7:51:38 PM)
is this correct (science - 11/10/2007 8:25:46 PM)
on the "shad plank" page, they say Davis has 85.3, not 58.3
Makes a big difference...
I transposed numbers... (James Martin - 11/10/2007 8:28:23 PM)
Thanks for keeping me on my toes!
I fixed it. (Lowell - 11/10/2007 8:28:44 PM)
n/t
fourth ballot complete (science - 11/10/2007 10:13:53 PM)
from the shad plank site:
Jost 146
Wittman 120.24
Bowditch 105.81
Davis 98.30
Black was just eliminated, with 89 votes, and he endorsed Jost. But it is (I think) unlikely that Bowditch or Davis will...
actually, that was the fourth ballot, (science - 11/10/2007 10:18:25 PM)
and Black had 89 votes. The fifth is between the four finalists.
You guys are really snippy about my blogging :) (James Martin - 11/10/2007 10:23:26 PM)
Anyway- I'm getting my stuff separately- so I don't have the speed or accuracy of the Shad Plank... but I still get it in the end.
The Delegates in Caroline are thrilled with their candidates (dsvabeachdems - 11/10/2007 10:22:17 PM)
Jost won the Micro Plank (dsvabeachdems - 11/10/2007 10:27:04 PM)
Bowditch & Davis withdrew and endorse Wittman. (DrewPritt - 11/10/2007 10:48:13 PM)
Paul Jost is trying to save his candidacy but it looks like Rob Wittman will be the nominee after five ballots.
Go Wittman Go (Chris Guy - 11/10/2007 10:48:22 PM)
he occupies Pollard's old seat in the House of Delegates. If he leaves, Albert can easily win it back.
Right, but wouldn't Wittman be a much tougher (Lowell - 11/10/2007 10:51:50 PM)
candidate against Forgit than Paul Jost would be?
I don't know... (DrewPritt - 11/10/2007 11:14:13 PM)
Wittman might be hampered with the somewhat anti-Richmond, anti-Legislative anger that was in the electorate if Forgit is able to paint himself as the veteran populist versus Wittman as another legislator.
Wittman came across as least doctrinaire (dsvabeachdems - 11/10/2007 11:18:26 PM)
Of the addresses by each candidate today, Wittman's was absolutely the least extreme. He looks reasonable in contrast to the others.
One of George Allen's front men was there today doing the prep for Jost. This could be a another disappointment for Felix.
Yeah, Wittman seems like a moderate (Lowell - 11/10/2007 11:21:15 PM)
Republican, as far as I can tell.
Moderate may be a bit too soft... (dsvabeachdems - 11/11/2007 12:02:27 AM)
He did rattle the sabre and invoke his faith.
We can't have both, can we? (elevandoski - 11/10/2007 11:45:29 PM)
Pollard in the 99th and Forgit in Congress? Wittman doesn't have to resign his House seat to run for Congress, right?
That's probably the case (Chris Guy - 11/10/2007 11:57:48 PM)
No matter how much I want Albert back in Richmond, I sure as hell don't want Wittman representing me in Congress. sigh
He probably would be tougher than Jost (Chris Guy - 11/10/2007 11:49:08 PM)
but I'm just thinking of Pollard. I just can't emphasize enough what a lying snake Richard Stuart is, he's everything Albert is not. I'm never gonna get over that loss.
This comment at Shad Plank... (elevandoski - 11/11/2007 12:45:52 AM)
Was he the guy in charge when Westmoreland violated over 300 ADA laws (Americans with Disabilities Act) another winner!

From Wittman's website (Lowell - 11/10/2007 11:08:59 PM)
"He holds a Ph.D. from Virginia Commonwealth University, a Master of Public Health in Health Policy and Administration from the University of North Carolina, and a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Virginia Tech."

James I actually made the quote. (DrewPritt - 11/10/2007 11:12:10 PM)
James not that its a huge thing but you have :
"(From the comments: "Paul Jost is trying to save his candidacy but it looks like Rob Wittman will be the nominee after five ballots." - promoted by Lowell)"
In actuality, its my quote that I made, not Lowell.
No, that just means I promoted the diary (Lowell - 11/10/2007 11:16:06 PM)
It's clearly your comment.
Poor Paul (Johnny Longtorso - 11/10/2007 11:19:07 PM)
Always the bridesmaid, never the bride.
I will not vote Wittman (GOPleaner - 11/10/2007 11:40:35 PM)
I was the GOP Convention and I consider myself a Republican-leaning Independent, but after Wittman won the nomination, there's no way I can keep my pledge to support the Republican party. In Wittman's speech he said China was an immediate military threat to the U.S. and that he was running to follow the word of Jesus. This guy is a complete nutcase and I'll be more than happy to support Phil Forgit on Dec. 11.
Post the video (vadem2008 - 11/10/2007 11:45:16 PM)
I'd like to see the video of this. Wittman comes across as a moderate on his website and his votes in the VA House are not extreme.
I wish I had it (GOPleaner - 11/10/2007 11:48:50 PM)
I don't have a video but I'd like to see it again. I'll admit I didn't know much about him going in, but my friends who are similar politically to myself also agreed with me that he was crazy. I voted for Catesby Jones in the first round then Sherwood and Paul Jost in the later rounds.
Someone saw a guy w/ a camera at the D convention (Chris Guy - 11/10/2007 11:52:04 PM)
hoping to catch one of ours saying something crazy. So hopefully video of Wittman will surface eventually.
As you probably now... (Jeremiahthemessiah - 11/11/2007 3:35:35 AM)
In special elections, voter turnout is low, and in December, turnout could be REALLY low. Your vote and support can make a world of difference. Thank you, and goodluck.
