Okay, here's where we stand:
Democratic pickups
SEN-01: Miller defeats Stall
HD-34: Mathieson defeats Welch
HD-83: Bouchard defeats Stolle
Likely Democratic pickups
SEN-06: Northam close to defeating Rerras
SEN-34: Petersen beating Davis
Still active
SEN-28: Stuart (R) 51% v. Pollard (D) 48.5% (90% reporting)
SEN-37: Cuccinelli (R) 50% v. Oleszek 49% (64% [reporting)
SEN-39: Barker (D) 51% v. O'Brien 49% (56% reporting)
HD-34: Vanderhye (D) 51% v. 49% (36% reporting)
HD-51: Nichols (D) 51% v. 49% (62.5% reporting)
HD-86: Rust (R) 52% v. Donahue (D) 48% (28% reporting)
Keep the discussion alive -- and hope alive too. The Dems have a great chance at taking the Senate.
[UPDATE: AP and WTOP give the nod to Chap! Kudos to Ben for calling this one early. Ben is also calling it for Barker -- let's hope he's right again.]

Chap won (mkfox - 11/7/2007 12:07:30 AM)
AP called it!
My thoughts (DukieDem - 11/7/2007 12:12:37 AM)
Barker by a close margin
Cooch by a very, very, very close margin.
We got to 21, but still some dissapointments.
Lawyers start (The Donkey - 11/7/2007 12:28:08 AM)
your engines.
Loudon??? (doctormatt06 - 11/7/2007 12:15:08 AM)
What the heck is going on out there...!?!?!?!
Write in campaign for Commonwealth Attorney (Loudoun County Dem - 11/7/2007 12:35:31 AM)
John Flannery ran a write in campaign for Commonwealth attorney. He will have gotten many votes in all precincts as we were highlighting it in our sample ballots and showing how to cast a write in vote.
I suspect that this is what is holding up Loudoun's returns.
We are as anxious as you...
WaPo has called SEN-06... (DC Pol Sci - 11/7/2007 12:16:08 AM)
...for Northam. As noted above, Petersen beats Davis.
We need Barker OR Oleszek.
News reporting ... (A Siegel - 11/7/2007 12:16:13 AM)
JDD has conceded ... do we really rate this as "likely".
Watching McLean HQ on TV right ... quite happy looking.
And, well, my breath is being held as I hope for John Foust to send Joan Dubois back home.
Kaine just said we took the Senate!!!! (doctormatt06 - 11/7/2007 12:18:40 AM)
He said he heard for sure Barker has WONN!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Cooch's lead down to FOUR VOTES. (DC Pol Sci - 11/7/2007 12:17:22 AM)
Of course, I don't know what's still out. Anybody got clues?
Barker still up by over 1,000.
Fair Lakes and Centerville (Rebecca - 11/7/2007 12:34:45 AM)
These two are still out and they are big. He's fallen to second place.

Precincts still out in SEN-37.. (DC Pol Sci - 11/7/2007 12:20:11 AM)
Fairlakes, Greenbriar East, Centerpointe, South Run, Centerville, Bull Run and the absentees.
'course, the absentees are an unknown in Fairfax County politics, not solid R like in so many other places.
How do the rest of these precincts dance?
What is still out in Fairfax? (ortcutt - 11/7/2007 12:20:49 AM)
Does anybody know?
See my post above yours. (DC Pol Sci - 11/7/2007 12:21:45 AM)
Olezek UP by 54 votes. n/t (DC Pol Sci - 11/7/2007 12:21:31 AM)
Yup...
(ericy - 11/7/2007 12:22:56 AM)
Not much of a lead. Still 6 precincts to go...
My prediction... (doctormatt06 - 11/7/2007 12:21:43 AM)
We won the Senate....HELLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL YES!!!
It does appear that way. (DC Pol Sci - 11/7/2007 12:23:06 AM)
Never thought I'd see the day when I moved here 12 years ago!!!
Roll Blue Tide...marknotjohn takes the other U.S. Senate seat in '08, and we're pretty much a blue state!
Nahhh... (doctormatt06 - 11/7/2007 12:25:50 AM)
Still a purple state...
But we're a purple state with a bright red republican party...they need to learn to mellow out...like the Democrats have learned.
Colgan wins (WTOP) (Barbara - 11/7/2007 12:22:03 AM)
Still waiting for Barker--but I think it looks good.
I just ran some calciualtions in Excel (jiacinto - 11/7/2007 12:25:36 AM)
Assuming that the final precincts in both FFX and PW County break the way that they have been all night, Barker will probably win by 700 votes.
Jiacinto... (DC Pol Sci - 11/7/2007 12:29:05 AM)
Can you run these numbers on 37?
37 is harder because (jiacinto - 11/7/2007 12:32:59 AM)
it is all in Fairfax County and I am not sure which precincts have reported.
Looks like Oleszek down by 100 votes... (DC Pol Sci - 11/7/2007 12:38:40 AM)
...with all precincts in except the absentees.
http://www.fairfaxco...
I don't hold out much hope that the absentees will give Janet +100.
He won in my precinct 57%-42%, which makes me very happy-- (Barbara - 11/7/2007 12:30:54 AM)
...since I was there since 5:30am. :)
I was the first to call it (jiacinto - 11/7/2007 12:27:06 AM)
for Barker several threads ago!
Just for reference (DanG - 11/7/2007 1:51:00 AM)
Bobby is in the 21st District, not 34th.
Glad to see... (mikeporter - 11/7/2007 5:10:01 AM)
Mathieson win in the 21st. WOO HOO!!!
