NLS Calls it for Chap...Polls Still Open (Go Vote!)

Wow, what a great victory this could be in another hour or so, assuming NLS is correct. A Chap Petersen victory tonight would mean the end of the Davis machine in Fairfax County and Virginia politics? Go Chap!!! :)
P.S. Victory by Chap would mean one Senate seat pickup, which would mean we'd still need three more. One more hour...please go vote for Janet Oleszek, George Barker, Ralph Northam, John Miller, Albert Pollard, Michael Briener, Karen Schultz, and Steve Heretick (also, don't forget incumbents Roscoe Reynolds, Mark Herring, and Chuck Colgan).
P.P.S. Needless to say, it is crucially important to vote in this election. Aside from Chap-JMDD, there are other races and other issues. Plus, we want to totally crush the Davis machine, put a stake through its heart, and any other cliche you can think of! :)

Irresponsible to call it while polls are open (True Blue - 11/6/2007 7:04:11 PM)
Everyone keep voting. If you are a Democrat getting ready to leave work and go vote: GO VOTE!!!
Ignore this: it is incredibly irresponsible to call this race before the polls close and before many people leave work to vote.
GO VOTE NOW!!!

Anyone who depends on NLS for analysis has already voted.
Agreed. I find it very difficult to believe (Lowell - 11/6/2007 7:07:23 PM)
that anyone would say, "good, NLS called it for Chap, we don't have to vote after all!" If this were true, why wouldn't it have the same effect on JMDD voters, btw?
One more point. (Lowell - 11/6/2007 7:08:14 PM)
I've urged everyone a gazillion times already to GO VOTE. If they haven't by now, they're not listening to the blogs anyway.
Yes, yes, but all the same (True Blue - 11/6/2007 7:11:38 PM)
Very bad juju. Not to be done, ever.
Chap's come too far to be jinxed.
You're exactly right (Chris Guy - 11/6/2007 7:13:23 PM)
and it might also be considered voter suppression.
What a Bunch of Crap.... (Flipper - 11/6/2007 7:19:05 PM)
I cannot believe you would post NLS's unfounded, undocumented projection - it does have an affect. The golden rule after after the Florida debacle is that every vote does count. I don't care how many times you have urged people to vote today. There are always those who will get home this evening and see your blog for the first time - and may not go vote based on that headline. Chap's district overlaps with other races going on so posting an unfounded projection like that does nothing but keep people from voting. Good grief - I just cannot believe the level of stupidity here.
every vote does count (afausser - 11/6/2007 7:22:34 PM)
We all know that. But once NLS calls a race
on election day as opposed to pre-election predictions, he is generally right.
Calling it already!? (Arlington Mike - 11/6/2007 7:24:37 PM)
Totally irresponsible.
I'm about to make a rather strongly worded comment here. If bloggers expect the respect that reporters receive, they must treat news, reporting, and their power on the Internet with respect. Calling this while we're an hour away from the close of polls, especially knowing that people vote on their way home from work in a suburban area like Fairfax, is flat out irresponsible.
I'd strongly encourage Lowell to remove the link to NLS - and strongly encourage him to tone down the language. "If NLS is correct" deserves much more than parentheses placement, especially given that the election is still open and up for grabs for an hour.
Are you serious? (TheGreenMiles - 11/6/2007 7:26:38 PM)
Jinxed? What are we, Red Sox fans? This is Fairfax -- if anyone's going to vote, they wouldn't be sitting in front of their computer at 6pm, they'd be on their way to the polls. At rush hour, Fairfax is like LA -- it takes an hour to go anywhere.
Does anyone know NLS Methodology. (democraticavenger - 11/6/2007 7:32:44 PM)
I sure hope is he is right, but how does he do it exactly?
He knows the numbers, the precincts, the players (Lowell - 11/6/2007 7:34:11 PM)
inside out. He talks to everyone. He's got years of experience in Fairfax politics. Other than that, he's a rank amateur! Ha. :)
Right, what I am deeply curious about is (democraticavenger - 11/6/2007 7:36:35 PM)
Is the how? I have called things before but I usually need some results, does he have some ABS he won't say, or something, or is just guessing off of turnouts in different places?
