Bush and Kilgore: What a Combo!

KilgoreRobertsonMorphSo, it looks like George W. Bush and Jerry W. Kilgore are finally going to have their moment in the sun after all.  Except it's not going to be in the sun, it's going to be at night.  Which somehow seems totally appropriate.

So why is Jerry Dubya bringing in George Dubya on Monday night, just hours before the polls open on Tuesday morning?  Is it George Dubya's stellar ratings (not!) in several recent polls?  Perhaps it's the 41%-47% of Americans who "strongly disapprove" of George Dubya, or the overall 59%-61% who "disapprove."  Could it be that Jerry Dubya is playing to the remaining 35%-39% who still -- somehow, beyond all belief -- approve of this corrupt, disastrous Administration?  Or, could it be that Jerry Dubya realizes he's losing this election and is desperate to increase turnout among his base?  Does he seriously think that a picture of the two "Dubyas" in the papers on Election morning will help him?

On the other hand, by Monday evening George Dubya will have just returned from his triumphal trip to Latin America, where his visit motivated tens of thousands of Argentines to march in the streets shouting "Get out Bush!" and "Fascist Bush! You are the terrorist!"  Also, George Dubya has got to be looking really good now that the Michael "Brownie, you're doin' a heck!" Brown's e-mails have come out.  You know, the ones where "Brownie" refers to himself as a "fashion god" and worries more about getting a dog sitter for himself than about the thousands of trapped Hurricane Katrina victims facing possible death in New Orleans.

Yeah, George Dubya and Jerry Dubya certainly make quite a combo.  And the Kaine campaign very much appreciates that fact.  Which is why Kaine spokesman Mo Eleithee commented that he just needed "to figure out where to send the thank you note" for George Dubya's appearance with Jerry Dubya.  Seriously, thouugh, Eleithee asked: "Do you want someone who is going to govern in the fashion of [Gov. Mark Warner] or someone who's going to govern the way they do it in Washington?"  I don't know, but all I can say is that "Jerry, you're doin' a heck of a job!"
