Annabel and Eric on Front Page of Washington Post

Filmmakers Annabel Park and Eric Byler, who have been following and chronicling the Prince William county immigration debate, are now on the front page of the Washington Post.  The article, entitled "Raw Look at Immigration Crucible: Pr. William Web Serial Aims to Foster a Deeper, More Civil Discourse," explains:

After the macaca incident, Byler and Park moved back to Virginia from Los Angeles and volunteered for Democrat James Webb's Senate campaign against Allen, helping to raise money among Asian Americans.

Although they worked on a Democratic campaign and their video clips show a sympathy for Latino immigrants' fears about racism and discrimination, Byler and Park have sought to capture all sides of the debate on illegal immigration. One of their most-viewed videos shows a meeting of the anti-illegal immigrant group Help Save Manassas, and others include interviews with Stewart, whose reelection campaign slogan is "Fighting illegal immigration."

Check out Eric's and Annabel's fascinating, powerful immigration "interactive documentary" at YouTube.  And check out the movie whenever it comes out; if it's as well-made as Eric Byler's previous work, it should be great.

P.S. The Post also reports that an immigration ad by the Ayuda Business Coalition will start running on TV this weekend throughout Virginia.  According to the article:

The centerpiece is an ad that claims to show what happened when Riverside, N.J., passed a resolution penalizing employers who had hired illegal immigrants. Images of empty buildings and signs of shop liquidations and closures flash across the screen. The ad explains that Riverside rescinded its measure one year later.

"The moral: Virginia, let's be careful what we wish for," a narrator warns.

Exactly, Corey Stewart, are you listening?!?

I can't bring it up online, but it's entitled, "End Stewart's Reign of Fear-Mongering"

Loved the line, "Stewart clearly worshipped at the altar of his own ambitions throughout all of this" (illegal immigration)

How great to have both the Post and the MJM come out in favor of Pandak on the same day.

Oops (VaNative - 11/3/2007 9:56:40 AM)
Except that I am reading yesterday's paper ;)

The first paragraph says it all (Barbara - 11/3/2007 12:40:03 PM)
"...we called him a grandstander and an opportunist who would bring tumult down on the county. We understated the case."

I wish I would have written that.

Way to go Eric, Annabel and Jeff! (The Donkey - 11/3/2007 9:16:38 AM)

This is great (Barbara - 11/3/2007 12:28:36 PM)
Great to see it on the front page of the Post.

But the comments are extremely disturbing (Lowell - 11/3/2007 12:30:37 PM)

Yes, they are. (Barbara - 11/3/2007 1:09:36 PM)
Corey brings out the best in people, don't you think?

I was at the Board meeting (for a couple hours) and saw some of the people Annabel and Eric filmed, and believe me, they were even more disturbing.

NBC 4 covers (Lowell - 11/3/2007 9:36:08 PM)
Annabel and Eric.  What next, Good Morning America?  Chris Matthews?  The News Hour?  I wouldn't be surprised.

Next is Capital Sunday with Leon Harris (parkinstein - 11/4/2007 4:00:40 AM)
Thanks for all the kind postings about us, Lowell.  The interview was taped on Friday and it airs today, Sunday, at 9:30am.  I am on for a few minutes at the end of the show to talk about 9500 Liberty.
