Another excellent video on the Prince William illegal immigration controversy, courtesy of Eric Byler and Annabel Park. Check out their YouTube channel, now with 19 videos on this subject, here. Thanks.
He looked up and saw the rich dropping their offerings into the temple treasury. 2 He also saw a poor widow dropping in two tiny coins. 3 "I tell you the truth," He said. "This poor widow has put in more than all of them. 4 For all these people have put in gifts out of their surplus, but she out of her poverty has put in all she had to live on."
Or there's this from Matthew 19. A rich young ruler says he has obeyed the commandments, but wants to know what he lacks to get to heaven. Jesus' response:
21 "If you want to be perfect," Jesus said to him, "go, sell your belongings and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow Me." 22 When the young man heard that command, he went away grieving, because he had many possessions.
There are many similar quotes in the standard Gospels. It's one of the major thrusts of Jesus' message. (p.s. Disclosure: I'm no longer a Christian in that I do not believe Jesus was God; but his message was undeniably great, and evolutionarily speaking we're headed in the direction of his message. But that's a debate for another place and time.)
I'd love to get into a theological, Bible-based debate with the holier than thou Repubs on this issue.
