John Miller Wins Daily Press Endorsement for Virginia Senate

According to the Daily Press in Virginia's 1st Senate District, Democrat John Miller will represent the real district and its views:

"John Miller will be a cooler head in a legislature too often given to heated dispute. He will listen; he will lead; he will persuade. He will get the work done.

But he will have the chance to do that only if voters - the moderate and conservative middle, the solution-seekers - cast ballots on Nov. 6. If they stay home, and underestimate how likely the fringe voters are to turn out, the majority of the district will find themselves represented by someone who does not, in truth, represent them."

Congrats to John Miller! (elevandoski - 10/21/2007 1:10:45 PM)
But I swear and couldn't re-read this endorsement and not insert John Welch or Nick Rerras in Tricia Stall's place throughout this whole piece.  Key phrase... "effective legislative representation - to move matters forward or backwards".  In other words what we will have in Ralph Northam, Bobby Mathieson and John Miller, and what we don't have from the party of "No" (Stall, Rerras and Welch).

Good to hear (Johnny Longtorso - 10/21/2007 2:00:58 PM)
Although really, I can't imagine any paper with an editorial board left of the Richmond Times-Dispatch endorsing Stall.

Do you happen to know the NNDP's history of endorsements?

Over the past few years I've gotten to know John and his wife. He's a hard worker who will make a great State Senator and I know the endorsement of the Daily Press was hard earned.

Can you believe the line "Miller even umpires Little League - which, if you're given to a cynical view of things, may be his best preparation yet for effective service in the General Assembly"?
