Holtzman Vogel Skips Third Debate of the Month

Obviously, Holtzman Vogel doesn't want to defend her far-right, out-of-the-mainstream views OR her...uh...questionable tax practices.  No wonder why she's terrified to debate Karen Schultz.  Sad.

'No Show Jill' Skips Another Debate

Vogel adds to record of absenteeism, skips 3rd debate of the month

WOODSTOCK - For the third time in a month, Jill Holtzman-Vogel pulled out of a debate at the last minute, as she failed to show up to a candidate forum Wednesday in Woodstock.

Wednesday's Pure H2O candidate forum, hosted by a coalition of seven groups concerned about water quality in the Shenandoah Valley watershed, marks the second debate Vogel has skipped in recent weeks and adds to her building record of absenteeism.

On October 4, Vogel skipped a debate at the Blue Ridge District in Middleburg. Just weeks earlier, Vogel canceled a Sept. 19 appearance at a Loudoun League of Women Voters (LWV) candidates' forum. According to the LWV, Vogel's pullout came "out of the blue," with less than 48 hours notice. (Loudoun Times-Mirror, 9/18/07).

Democratic candidate Karen Schultz attended all three events.

"Voters deserve to know: Would Jill Vogel show up to her job in the Senate?" said Julie Petrick, Schultz's campaign manager. "The voters of the 27th District need a State Senator who will be there for our community. Virginians deserve better than a no-show Senator."

In addition to missing two candidate forums, Vogel has a years-long record of absenteeism. She frequently touts her service on the Virginia Outdoors Foundation's board; however, Vogel has skipped almost half of their meetings. (Winchester Star, 10/11/2007).

The latest missed debate comes just days after Schultz announced fundraising and cash-on-hand advantages over Vogel leading into the final weeks of the campaign.

Schultz, a recognized community leader in the Shenandoah Valley region for 30 years, served on the Winchester School Board and is an Associate Professor at the Bernard Dunn School of Pharmacy at Shenandoah University.

Schultz is running for Senate in the 27th District, which encompasses the city of Winchester, all of Frederick and Clarke counties, and portions of Fauquier and Loudoun counties.

Too bad... (NovaConservative - 10/20/2007 10:39:09 PM)
That "debate" wasn't even in the 27th District.

Good to know Jill doesn't care (sorengo99 - 10/20/2007 10:41:58 PM)
about wider Shenandoah watershed issues

Looks like Vogel does not want the district (snolan - 10/21/2007 10:09:11 AM)
It appears that the neo-cons in the 27th (and nearby) want her in that office more than she wants it herself...

I gotta wonder what kind of puppet that makes a person.  It's funny to see huge Vogel signs down here in the 29th district, where people should be supporting either Colgan or FitzSimmonds... but the truth is we are excited about neither candidate for our own district...  we'd rather support Schultz and Oleszek (progressive moderates) or Vogel and Cuccinelli (theocratic neo-cons).
