Corey Stewart in Big Trouble?

According to NLS:
...it appears that Corey Stewart used Prince William tax dollars to send out a mailing from the Prince William Republican Party. This is no technical violation, misspending taxpayer dollars to promote political allies is one of the worst offenses possible from a public official.
Whoops. See here for more. Oh, and I particularly love how Stewart immediately attacks the Commonwealth's Attorney for investigating his possibly illegal behavior. Question for Corey Stewart in language you're sure to comprehend: what part of "illegal" don't you understand?

Corey in trouble? One can only hope. (Barbara - 10/12/2007 9:25:54 PM)
What a self-serving opportunist. I hope he is really in trouble. I received this mailer on Thursday and questioned the legality. The mailer asked that we contact our respective Supervisor, which I did. Somehow I doubt I will hear from Mr. May anytime soon.
Forgive me if this was posted before, but Sunday's Washington Post Extra had a great lead article on this subject: Anti-Immigrant Agenda Pushed Before Nov 6th Election
I particularly liked remarks about Maureen Caddigan (R-Dumfries) who supports Pandak:
She expressed disgust at Tuesday's board meeting when she learned that Greg Letiecq, who runs the blog Black Velvet Bruce Li, had posted that she and other supervisors were not going to vote in favor of the illegal immigration package. Stewart said he "immediately alerted" Letiecq "and let him know the immigration resolution was in jeopardy and it didn't look like I had the votes."

Can we please re-visit ethics avenue. The bandwagon mentality without so much of seeking the truth is really unnerving. Don't care too much about Corey Stewart but a simple phone call to Executive Press would have cleared all this up. NO wrong doing by Stewart at all. I will not hold my breathe for retractions of statements or speculations b/c in an election cycle.
Please explain to us exactly how the Potomac News (Lowell - 10/13/2007 11:48:51 AM)
article was wrong, and why Prince William Commonwealth's Attorney Paul Ebert is wrong when he says the Stewart mailer "doesn't smell good" and when Ebert says "You can't use taxpayer money for political purposes to start with, and then there are potential violations of election laws." How can a "simple phone call" clear all that up? Seems like a thorough investigation is in order, as Ebert is calling for.
Not only that (pol - 10/13/2007 12:04:42 PM)
but Executive Press' President and Secretary are the Chair of the llth Congressional Republican Committee, Rebecca Stoeckel.
Sound like Corey's getting the county to pay for his mailing as well as committing a bit of conflict of interest as well.
If Stewart really wants the job, he should learn from the incumbent. (jsrutstein - 10/13/2007 12:58:07 PM)
Stewart says Executive Press just happened to be the low-bidder. I hope he consulted government contract expert Tom Davis on this one. Stoeckel should sell the company to someone more independent and then hire her back for an exorbitant part-time salary. Legal money laundering the Davis way.
It's no fun being an illegal Re-pub-lican... (Kindler - 10/13/2007 6:57:24 PM)
Please, please tell me we can deport him to Mexico!!!
Be my guest, Kindler! (pol - 10/13/2007 8:12:03 PM)
