Other comments by Janet about Ken Cuccinelli:
*Cuccinelli has been incredibly ineffective in Richmond.
*Cuccinelli has done some things in Richmond which are downright embarrassing, proposing legislation that would do more harm than good.
*Ken wastes a lot of peoples' time when he's in Richmond; he's not interested in finding real solutions.
On the positive side, Janet spoke passionately about education, which she obviously cares greatly about. She talked about supporting full-day kindergarten, higher education, public schools. She said that Virginia students should be able to stay in-state for college and not be forced to go out of state. She said she's "very willing to cross party lines to get things done" in Richmond. And she declared, "I'd like to lead the charge [on education]."
P.S. The Oleszek campaign says that there were "hundreds" of people on the call.
FAIRFAX - Janet Oleszek, candidate for State Senate in the 37th District of Virginia, hosted a telephone forum with voters on Tuesday night in which she laid out her vision for improving education and addressed Sen. Ken Cuccinelli's attacks on Fairfax schools. This week, Cuccinelli launched a negative television advertisement that attacked Fairfax public schools for having "poor test scores."
"Ken Cuccinelli could not be more wrong about our public schools. He calls our students' test scores 'poor' even though every single one of our high schools ranks in the top three percent of the country, and our students' SAT scores are well above state and national averages," said Oleszek. "He obviously does not understand how our public schools work, or else he would not be making these outlandish attacks on one of the best school systems in the country."
Voters from across the 37th District participated in the call-in telephone forum on Tuesday night at 7:45 P.M.
During the forum, Oleszek spoke of her intent to bring additional funds to Virginia's overcrowded colleges and universities. "After investing so much money in our education system," she said, "it is critical that we keep our best and brightest at home, instead of sending them to out of state schools. When I get to Richmond, I will work on a solution to this problem before it becomes a crisis."
Oleszek also expressed her intent to use similar telephone conference technology as Senator to allow constituents more opportunities to share their opinions after the election.
