Last week, George W. Bush vetoed the SCHIP expansion program passed by congress, thus declaring war on poor, sick children in America. Has there ever been a more pitiful example of the war against conscience perpetrated in the history of our great nation, or a more perfect example of the inhuman political philosophy known as "conservatism"?In the last 30 years, people of conscience worldwide have sat appalled as America has sunk from a position of pervasive leadership and moral authority, into a morass of greed, ignorance and hatred, following the pied pipers of the conservative movement.
The SCHIP debacle is particularly disgusting, points directly to the dark heart of conservatism. In a nutshell, the aristocrats of conservatism live by a theory of Social Darwinism that violently defends a position that it's not my problem if your children die. This is all fine and well, until it kills you, your children, your dreams, or America.
