My favorite -- and I can't believe he actually said this -- is his gloating about having subcommittees as tiny as four delegate have the power to kill legislation.
The great thing about what we did last year in the House, we gave killing power to subcommittees. So now I'm a subcommittee chair on 2 committees now. We can actually kill a bill in subcommittee and it can not come up in full committee. It used to be that to be able to be killed in the subcommittee and go in front of the full committee and then it would get passed, and move on, so the Senate knew how to work that game.So now I have to serve as one of 5 people on my subcommittee, and as a subcommittee chair I can usually wheel and deal with just 4 people. They know it's a different world out there now.
They have to come to me and they have to strike deals. And one of them [sic] deals is that you have to treat me as a peer and not as as servant. So that is where we are."
Finding three buddies to kill a bill? Wheel and deal? Sounds like a big supporter of democracy, doesn't it?
Anyway, there's plenty of other reasons there -- any one of them should be enough to can this guy.
Help! I'm looking for Josh Chernila, or anyone who can get me in touch with the phone from home software or code author. This was the Coldfusion software and database used in the Webb '06 campaign and we have other campaigns for '08 who are very much needing and interested in using a phone from home database software program like this. I've been looking for some contacts now for 3 weeks, talked to Ingrid, Lowell and I have had NO LUCK!
Please help me find this phone from home software. It was dynamite because it enabled anyone from anywhere in the country to volunteer for phone banking for the Webb campaign and we have other races where this would be a Godsend.
Please help! Don't ya want to see other Netroots/Progressive/Populists win in '08?
