Roscoe Reynolds Fights AEP Rate Increases

Senator Roscoe Reynolds is setting out to alert consumers once again that they may face unfair rate increases at the hands of a major power company. Recently, AEP Appalachian Power filed three separate rate increase cases with the State Corporation Commission seeking the right to raise charges to consumers in excess of $100 million.

Roscoe was the only elected official in Virginia to go to the SCC and stand up for his constituents against AEP's proposed 25% rate increase last year. He was successful in his efforts, but now is faced with a bigger fight this time around. In order to best serve the interests of the 20th Senate district, Roscoe has set up an online petition in order to gather signatures to  show that Virginia's consumers can not take anymore drastic increases. He plans to take these signatures to battle with him at the SCC hearing on November 8th.

Sign the petition here!

Persons wanting to sign the petition can also go to his website at RoscoeReynolds.com.

He needs our help again, so please go and sign the petition today!

Roscoe works harder than any member of the GA to help his constituents.  He stood up in the face of a lot of very powerful interests to fight the 25% increase.  He was the only member to go and tell the SCC that the increase would hurt southside and southwest Virginia.  We should all sign the petition and thank him for his hard work.

Roscoe is a Great Senator (DanG - 10/4/2007 1:15:16 PM)
He's a tireless advocate for the people, a powerful speaker (I know of none better in the entire commonwealth), and a commonsense leader.  The Democratic Party would do well to follow his lead on issues like this, especially in Southwest VA, but also in central and southeast (chesapeake, suffolk, and even virginia beach).

Principle. (MikeSizemore - 10/4/2007 2:13:43 PM)
What gets me the most is that he stands on principle alone. As a long-serving member of the General Assembly, he has taken money from power companies in the past. However, when he faces injustice to his constituents and his own people by these very companies, he stands on principle and shows that he cannot  be bought.

The same cannot be said for his opponent, Jeff Evans (also managed by Alton Foley, the same Alton who blamed Virginia Tech students for dying). Still waiting to hear what Jeff Evans plans to do/will do in the face of drastic rate increases for his potential constituents.
