"I agree with Pres. Bush vetoing SCHIP."

Earlier today, VA 22nd candidate Ralph Smith said that he agreed with Pres. Bush - after saying he wanted to be like Mark Warner - in vetoing the bipartisan children's health care package.  Speaking in front of a packed Kiwanis club meeting, Ralph Smith, former Mayor of Roanoke, and Dr. Mike Breiner faced off on health care and illegal immigration.
Ralph Smith came across as an ideologue that has no idea how to solve any of the problems in southwestern VA.  In a mailing his campaign sent out today, Ralph Smith says, "Those committed to higher taxes and bigger government vigorously oppose my campaign."  And, "It should come as no surprise that my opponent's campaign - with ample financial assistance from reliable benefactors committed to a liberal agenda - is rolling in funds."  Oddly, the mailer goes on to say that Smith is committed to a positive campaign "against the liberal agenda."

Ralph is stuck in the "liberal agenda" passed.  I have heard Dr. Breiner speak and now I have heard Ralph Smith.  Ralph talks about nothing. Instead of talking about health care, Ralph talks about the Wilder Commission.  Instead of jobs, Ralph talks about the Wilder Commission.  And, instead of education, Ralph talks about the Wilder Commission.  It's as if Ralph Smith doesn't realize that the party he so zealously represents - even to the point of still supporting Bush on cutting health care for kids - did not enact any part of the Wilder Commission.

I hope that crazy Ralph Smith doesn't get elected.
