More Lies From the Stuart Campaign

A new radio spot up in the 28th Senate District displays yet another example of dishonesty and broken promises from the Richard Stuart campaign. Stuart FALSELY states that Albert Pollard voted to give in-state tuition to illiegal aliens while serving in the House...in an add about transportation. Seriously. Here's part of the transcript:
"While we sat in gridlock, Albert Pollard spent four years sitting on his hands."

"Pollard did manage to vote to give in-state tuition rates to illegal immigrants and to prevent law enforcement from sharing information about illegal immigrants. No wonder Pollard is running a misleading campaign."

The Pollard campaign is considering taking action against Stuart if the ads are not pulled. The Stuart campaign is likely talking about HB156 and HB 2910 from 2005 which provide access, not in-state tuition rates.


These ARE the bills that dealt with in-state tuition rates, and how Albert voted:

2003 - HB1609 ..Reduced tuition for certain students... tabled in Education
2003 - HB1610 ..In-state tuition for certain alien students... Tabled in education
2003 - HB2339 ..In-state tuition for aliens... Albert voted FOR - - it never became law - vetoed by gov. - This denied illegal immigrants in-state tuition
2003 - HJ587 ..Study; in-state tuition for certain immigrant students... Left in Rules
2003 - SB753 ..Eligibility for in-state tuition... Left in Education and Health
2004 - HB838 ..Tuition, in-state; alien student eligibility... Tabled in Education
2005 - HB1598 ..Tuition, state; alien students eligibility... Left in appropriations
2005 - HB2122 ..Tuition, in-state; eligibility for students seeking asylum or refugee status.. Tabled in education

BOTTOM LINE: Albert never voted to give illegal immigrants in-state tuition.

Voice #1: Anything biting today.

Voice #2: Oh some, not much. 

#1: What are you reading? 

#2 Reading about Albert Pollard's bad votes in Richmond. 

#1: Albert Pollard.  He seems o.k. to me.

#2: Yeah sonny I thought so too.  Turns I didn't know the whole story.

#1: Really?

#2: Year, you know how Pollard is saying he is tough on illegal immigrants?

#1: Yeah.

#2: Well in Richmond he voted to let illegal immigrants get taxpayer subsidized instate tuition rates. 

#1: Well that's taxpayer money.

#2: Sure is.  Pollard also voted to stop law enforcement from sharing information about illegal immigrants.

#1: What's Albert thinking?

#2: Beats me.  Pollard even wrote the flush tax bill and opposed ending the death tax. 

#1: So Pollard wanted to tax us for dying and for flushing the toilet while giving tuition aid to illegal immigrants.  I guess I don't really know Albert after all.

The direct mail and radio/TV ads coming from the Stuart camp are really skeevy.  That's the best word I can come up with to describe the baldly deceptive and creepy tactics Richard Stuart is employing to win the votes of voters in the 28th District.  Personally, I think Stuart's tactics will backfire bigtime.

The good news?  The Pollard Campaign is fighting back hard.  A new radio spot running this morning on local Fredericksburg radio stations is tough and extremely effective.  Well done, Pollard Campaign!  Well done!
