This is truly stunning. Beyond the idiotic, baseless innuendo about Mark Warner, you've got to love the fact that a video with the word "fuck" in it has been posted by a guy who wrote this:
Democrat Rahm Emmanuel on Ethics and Decorum
'Why don't you go f--- yourself?' Emanuel replied, as he entered a men's room in the Capitol basement."
Well that's rather pleasant... courtesy of Politico.com.
The offending question? Whether the reporter could listen in on a debate over the language of an lobbying ethics reform bill.
P.S. Is this the Republicans' version of running a campaign based on "positive, constructive ideas," as George Allen said before he pointed at S.R. Sidarth last summer and made history?
P.P.S. They took it down, but we've got a screen shot of the RPV page (on the flip) preserved for posterity...

Unbelievable. (Rob - 9/25/2007 3:05:28 PM)
I guess we should wonder the same thing about Condi Rice, Jeb Bush, and Chuck Hagel too? Is this what passes for intellectual discourse over at the Republican Party of Virginia?
I call on all GOP candidates that are running in Nov. to denounce this ad. This is up on their state party website, so do they condone this type of gutter politics?
As long as we're at it, why don't we ask a more appropriate question: Why didn't Jim Gilmore run for President?
Oh wait, that's right, an utter void of interest in his candidacy.
so (noonan - 9/25/2007 3:06:13 PM)
This is what desperation smells like. They've got no shot running a positive campaign, and that's so pathetic.
Also, can someone send Shaun Kenney to spelling camp? The uncorrected errors in the headlines of his posts -- to say nothing of the posts themselves -- is giving me a headache.
Warner's going to beat them so bad (DanG - 9/25/2007 3:39:39 PM)
that they won't be able to get back up in time for 2009.
Impressive (Carrington - 9/25/2007 3:42:09 PM)
Hey tough guy Shawn--instead of relying on innuendo, why don't you just say what you mean and prove it. Cuz you can't?
What a bunch of f-ing losers. You deserve the state of your party.
I wonder how many GOP lawmakers will disavow the tactics represented by this ad.
It's jusy been taken off the RPV site (Chris Guy - 9/25/2007 3:59:20 PM)
and looking at what else they have on their front page, this is practically par for the course.
Still up on a couple of VA blogs (Carrington - 9/25/2007 4:22:03 PM)
Wonder how long it will take the brain surgeons to realize that the video hurts them more than it helps...(chirp chirp)
The saddest part (Carrington - 9/25/2007 4:02:34 PM)
Is that the R's have become so cynical and jaded by constant disappointment within their own party that they can't even fathom that someone would make a career choice with the best interests of family in mind.
Average Americans make the choice to forego power and promotion in favor of time with family every day--I think it is pathetic that the republican party would take out their own collective self-loathing on a good man without an ounce of proof to go on.
Just because you've shown yourselves to be shocking, pathetic hypocrites, don't put that on Mark Warner!
If you're looking for an ulterior motive for getting out of the presidential race--a much simpler one would be that he didn't think he could win a national democratic nomination...although that explanation clearly makes for less enticing swift boat ads.
The "family values" party indeed (Lowell - 9/25/2007 4:11:10 PM)
They think there's something wrong with making a decision to benefit your wife and children?!? Huh?!?
the only thing you need to know about republicans (pvogel - 9/25/2007 4:22:50 PM)

Digging their own grave... (samrasoul - 9/25/2007 4:31:52 PM)
The Virginia populous has responded at the polls that this type of BS will not work any longer. They are headed in the wrong direction and digging their own grave.
No surprise to see this sort of "wink-wink" trash coming out of the likes of Virginia Virtucon. That's what they traffic in.
It is, however, surprising and disappointing to see it distributed by the RPV. I'd like to know exactly who signed off on it. I can't believe that John Hager would permit this stuff to go on and I'd like to think that he'd put an end to the employment of whoever approved it.
It was posted under Shaun Kenney's name (Ben - 9/25/2007 5:11:47 PM)
Right, see the screen shot on the "flip" (Lowell - 9/25/2007 5:13:10 PM)

Wow (Steve M - 9/25/2007 5:17:08 PM)
It's pretty lame innuendo when no one can even figure out what you're getting at.
Fortunately, the RPV page has been restored to its former glory, where you can read a post about how Jim Moran is anti-semitic... right under a post lauding Fred Malek, best known as Richard Nixon's "jew-counter."
Y'all are truly blessed to have such incompetent Republicans in the Old Dominion. Makes life a lot easier, doesn't it?
RPV AD (Flipper - 9/25/2007 6:35:21 PM)
If you have seen the movie, it is clear what the RPV is insinuating re Warner. So, if the ad itself is disgusting and hitting below the belt, why is it posted on THIS website?
The RPV ad is actually a good ad politically, because it raises the question AGAIN as to why he didn't run for president. Most folks think that where there's smoke, there's fire. Negative advertsing works - and polls prove it.
I am sure the RPV knew their ad would be posted for just a short time - because they knew it would have the help of sites like this spreading their trash. If the ad is truly out of bounds, disgusting and off base, why promote it? Remove if from the blog. The longer folks see the ad and are talking about it, the more damage it inflicts.
I say leave it up (Red Sox - 9/25/2007 6:45:07 PM)
Let the newspapers and mass media see that the RPV has been reduced to irrationally screaming "HOMO!" because they have absolutely nothing left in their arsenal. They've lost in the marketplace of ideas, they've managed to continuously piss away the huge gains they made in the late nineties, and they're about to lose the US Senate seat they currently hold. This is what the RPV has been reduced to.
I want everyone to see what voting for Virginia Republicans really means.
Let the world see how low the RPV will stoop. (Lowell - 9/25/2007 11:03:55 PM)

More Damage? (Alicia - 9/25/2007 11:37:24 PM)
To their own party? I see no harm in keeping it posted. It's about the "stupidist" ad I've ever seen and tries so very hard to be dramatically negative - that it's just amateurish and dumb.
Um.. maybe Warner didn't want to run for President for family reasons, and maybe he's figured out a way to run for Senate (and win) and stay involved with the fam. Not hard to fathom.
COMMENT HIDDEN (Flipper - 9/25/2007 6:52:51 PM)
Very inconvenient, this blogosphere. (dsvabeachdems - 9/25/2007 8:09:12 PM)
It's full of information an an occasional dash of intelligence. Fact is that once whatever it is is out there...it's out there.
Running for President (DemVet - 9/25/2007 8:30:27 PM)
Oh God. I never thought of it --- I'm not running for President either.
Why not? What does that mean about me?
Any of the rest of you running for President? If not, you'd better have a damned good explanation.
I guess I'm slow (vadem - 9/25/2007 8:55:41 PM)
But I don't get the ad.
bad sad computer (charles e - 9/25/2007 9:11:53 PM)
Thank you for putting the picture up. I had wouldn't have found it on youtube if not for that. I don't know why my computer won't ever play bloggy vids. Any suggestions?
There are already a lot of vids trashing Warner over on youtube though. I was surprised. Guess he has them all shook up. (queue Elvis, please)
rpv (lynnkr - 9/25/2007 10:50:15 PM)
Shows that when you have a not so smart president it rubs off on the rest of
them , and they are all trying to be the next karl rove . I'm sure Billy Bob
would not like his acting used this way and what about copyright infringement.
