Another Milestone for the Netroots?

Check this out: a campaign ad for a major presidential candidate, exclusively by bloggers. Another milestone for the netroots?

Now, here's an idea for the next ad by progressive bloggers: simply take some of the most disgusting quotes off the right-wing blogs' comment sections (or hell, their front pages!) and read them out loud.  "Piss on the Koran."  "Anyone who opposes Bush is a traitor."  "I love waterboarding."  This could be loads of fun!  Heh.

What's your point? (J_e_f_f - 9/25/2007 1:39:54 PM)
Clearly there's some sarcasm going on here, but I can't quite tell where.  Are you in favor of this ad or opposed to it?  Do you disagree with the message, or do you think that by highlighting blogger's opinions people won't take it seriously?  I don't get it.

Ugh, that's what happens when you write fast and (Lowell - 9/25/2007 3:46:39 PM)
have to run out the door.  I edited it, so hopefully my suggestion for the next blogger ad comes across as intended.

Well, Richardson just dropped in my standings (DanG - 9/25/2007 3:53:01 PM)
It had been Edwards, Richardson, Clinton, Obama.  Gore up front if he decides to get in (very unlikely, though).

Now, it is officially Edwards, Clinton, Obama, Richardson.  Anybody who takes any endorsement from Stoller and the party-purists at "Open Left" as a GOOD thing can kiss my ass.

According to this ad (Chris Guy - 9/25/2007 4:06:00 PM)
World War II is still ongoing since we still have troops in Germany.

I agree with Dan.

Not a perfect analogy (DemVet - 9/25/2007 9:27:19 PM)
The Germans surrendered.  That was the end of the war. Yes, we kept troops in country afterward, but upon the surrender there was a cessation of hostilities that has continued to this day.  Can you envision anything similar taking place in Iraq?  What would it look like? Saddam went down years ago, and now our soldiers are in the middle of a civil war.

I agree with the basic premise of this ad.  We will still be fighting as long as we have troops in Iraq.  Not saying Iraq's civil war will end once we leave, not by a long shot, but as long as our soldiers are in Iraq we will be considered to be occupiers of that country and our soldiers will be targeted.

I don't know much about these bloggers, but to me their message appears to be on point.
