Debate was moderated by local Reporter Derek McGinty, of WUSA-TV, a Gannett owned CBS affiliate in Washington, DC. The debate had three well respected, inside-the-beltway journalists who asked questions of the candidates.
Out of the gate Baise came out swinging; I think the first swing is what knocked Gerry off balance. Gary Baise spoke of the lack of leadership by Chairman Gerry Connolly. Spoke of how Chairman Connolly likes to point his finger at everyone; I guess Gerry was never taught it wasn't polite to point? but point he will. Gerry took credit for the Red Sox winning the World Series but he blamed Rep. Tom Davis for the Washington Nationals having a horrible record. Gerry blames Richmond for all his woes. Gerry seems to not answer the questions asked and seemed like he spent his time responding to Baise all afternoon. One particular question Chairman Connolly seemed to fly off the handle. One of the panalists asked him if he would rule out running for Congress in 2008. Connolly said "I resent being asked that question? " then went on a tie raid about President Bush and Rep. Davis.
I noticed after the Debate Connolly was walking up and down the hall of the Westin Hotel with a frawn on his face. Connolly wasn't a happy camper this afternoon. Baise I think picked up more then a few votes this afternoon.
