This is almost beyond belief. Can politics get any more bizarre? I don't have time to write about this now, but just to get you talking, see here for some revealing Pat Buchanan quotes like...
*"[Hitler was] an individual of great courage...Hitler's success was not based on his extraordinary gifts alone."
*"Diesel engines do not emit enough carbon monoxide to kill anybody." (referring to the gas chambers at Treblinka)
*"The poor homosexuals -- they have declared war upon nature, and now nature is extracting an awful retribution (AIDS)."
*"Like all idolatries, democratism substitutes a false god for the real, a love of process for a love of country."
"If we had to take a million immigrants in, say Zulus, next year, or Englishmen, and put them up in Virginia, what group would be easier to assimilate and would cause less problems for the people of Virginia?"
Let's just say it goes on and on like this. This makes "macaca" look like nothing. Ugh.

Please, oh, please. (spotter - 9/12/2007 6:24:05 PM)
Run, Pat, run. Let's a have a three way split for the Republican nomination so Gilmore or Buchanan will get it. This should give people a revealing view of the deal that Republicans made with the Devil to keep their "big tent" party together.
Would help Davis? (KCinDC - 9/12/2007 9:48:05 PM)
I don't think Buchanan is really going to get in, but if he did, wouldn't it be more likely that he and Gilmore would split the conservative Republican vote and make it more likely for Davis to win?
So we'll have (mkfox - 9/12/2007 6:54:42 PM)
Mark Warner running against an idiot, a weasel or a fascist. This is almost too easy!
What next , Ollie North throws his hat (Lowell - 9/12/2007 6:57:33 PM)
in the ring? Jerry Kilgore? Hey, doesn't Tom DeLay live in Virginia now? There's an idea....yeah!!! :)
Oh (leftofcenter - 9/12/2007 9:10:45 PM)
my my MY this is going to be fun. What a cluster---- the rethug party is.
Hold your horses, now... (Kindler - 9/12/2007 9:58:26 PM)
All The Hill said was "Patrick Buchanan is being discussed as a possible candidate for Senate in Virginia." Anyone can "be discussed", after all, so this may just be a very bad joke...
But why risk a primary? (dsvabeachdems - 9/12/2007 9:59:31 PM)
When a caucus/convention can ensure that the wingnut flap of the big tent doesn't deliver a Tricia Stall? Come on, do you think the Republicans are going to risk the democratic process to make such an important selection?
Pats been running under the radar (hereinva - 9/13/2007 8:53:06 AM)
While not officially a candidate..and apparently now dicussing the possibility, his "platform" is floated on websites like this one [
http://www.forthecau...]..run by his former 2000 campaign manager.
Scroll down for an advertisment: Buchanan "right from the beginning".
If it's Buchanan Vs. Warner ... (M - 9/13/2007 9:48:33 PM)
it would the easiest win ever for Warner. (By the way, I wonder how many times it takes for someone to run for public office before they realize that nobody wants them to be elected for ANYTHING?--you'd think Ol' Pat would have gotten the message long before now)
