Those days have come to an end.
As the dream of Conservatism comes to be fully realized, it is clearly much more of a nightmare. The dream of fiscal sanity, upon reaization becomes the nightmare of endless giveaways to corporate giants based on trillion dollar national mortgage to Saudi Arabia and China. The dream of a stronger military, upon realization in Iraq becomes the nightmare of America's greatest strategic blunder , and at home becomes the nightmare of a Drowned New Orleans left to die. The dream of personal responsibility upon realization becomes a limitless string of arrests, indictments, and investigations reaching to the White House itself.
Yesterday, George W. Bush gave a speech in Norfolk. In the long forgotten days of the counterfeit conservative Camelot, Jerry W. Kilgore would have introduced the man he helped elect in Virginia last year. Yeasterday, he was nowhere to be seen.
Kilgore's snub of President Bush comes on the same day that I. Lewis "Scooter" Libby Jr., Vice President Cheney's chief of staff was indicted on charges of obstruction of justice, perjury and making false statements in the CIA leak investigation. All of this also comes on the heels of several last-minute cancellations of appearances by President Bush's Chief of Staff Andrew Card and by Bush's Deputy Chief of Staff Karl Rove, who is likely to remain the focus of a continuing investigation in the ongoing CIA Leak scandal."Apparently President Bush's coattails are not as long as they once were," said Democratic National Committee Spokesperson Amaya Smith. "With the cloud of controversy and scandal swirling around the White House, Republicans across the country can't get far enough away from President Bush and his senior advisors."
"Even Jerry Kilgore knows that President Bush needs to do more than give speeches and pose for photo ops. America can do better. The American people deserve answers from President Bush about what he and his aides knew, and whether he will ask those implicated in the CIA leak probe to step down. Its no wonder Kilgore is staying far, far away from him." -[DNC Press Release]
The salad days are over and the conservative camelot has proven to be counterfeit. When voters go to the polls they need to remember that is was Jerry W. Kilgore who led them down the primrose path to the re-election of George W. Bush, his cronies and the criminals who serve them.
A vote for Jerry W. Kilgore is a vote for broken promises and dreams that turn to nightmares.
For a stronger future, a future that takes Virginia forward, vote for Tim Kaine on November 8. Tim Kaine's Virginia may not be camelot, but it's the #1 best managed state in the union, and unlike Jerry Kilgore's office and the White House, it's free of criminal investigations.
